Verkhnekamsk Potash Company's Moscow office holds a meeting on current state of the Talitsky development project
On July 8, VPC's Moscow office held a meeting, presided over by Acron Vice President for Mining and Chemical Production Development and the project head Sergey Fedorov, to discuss progress on the Talitsky development project and recent inspection results.
One of the meeting's main topics was the successful drilling of two control wellbores to study rock mass for future mine construction. Completion of this stage means the Company is one more step closer to beginning construction of the Talitsky mining and processing complex. The control wells drilling project was prepared by Gallurgiya (Perm). A hydrogeological study of the crossection was finished and a core sample rich with potassium chloride was recovered from sylvinite strata Kr II. LLC Genesis-Perm was contracted to perform drilling. Genesis-Perm previously performed surveying of the Talitsky area for VPC and once again demonstrated the high quality of its work and its compliance with contract terms and VPC's requirements for verticality and core samples.
VPC and Gallurgiya have developed and patented a new method for mining a flat potassium seam with rock salt interlayer.
Belgorkhimprom research, design and construction institute of mining and chemical engineering (Minsk, Republic of Belarus) is developing design documentation for construction of mine shafts. The project's current status was also discussed at the meeting.
Vladimir Zakharov, General Director of VPC, informed the meeting about a provisional agreement with the local power company to provide electricity to the future mining and processing factories at the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit. Representatives of EuroChem and Uralkali, the other two companies developing the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit, also took part in the meeting to discuss the power supply agreement.
